Facts about Santo Tomás
To begin this blogger, first I´m gonna tell you some facts about Santo Tomás. Santo Tomás is a very beautiful place with a lot of interesting things. Here are some facts about Santo Domingo and Santo Tomas. First, Santo Tomás was created or founded between 1848 and 1869. Santo Tomás has its own ruling party, which is called MAS (Movimiento Avance Santo Domingo). It is the current ruling party of the canton. It is not usual to see a “non- traditional” party winning over the elections, but, due to the discontent of the people with the previous ruling of the “more traditional” parties, they chose to actually give their vote to a more local and small party. As a random fact, Santo Domingo is one of the 12 out of 82 cantons who chose to give their vote to a local party. The last population count of people who live in Santo Tomás was made in 2011, but the results said that nearly 6267 people lived here. Of course, through all these years the district has changed significantly, and the population has grown. The principal school of this district is called “Escuela de Santo Tomás”, but there are other school such as “Liceo de Santo Domingo”, and 20 or more others. Some examples of public activities held in Santo Tomás are events at “Hotel Bougainvillea”, or on Christmas time, the Santo Tomás school is always beautifully decorated. The most important public services offered in Santo Tomás are: Estación de Bomberos, Sucursal CCSS, Liceo Santo Domingo, Empresa de Servicios Públicos, Policía Municipal, Municipalidad.
Santo Tomás has appeared on the
news because of a murder and because of traffic accidents. Nonetheless, there
isn´t a lot of things happening in Santo Tomás, and it is known for being a
very pacific district. Santo Domingo and Santo Tomás don´t stand out on the
sports area, although there are a few soccer fields and baseball fields, there
is nothing too important here.
